WELCOME MONKEYS!!
Hey there, my
name is Niki. I am a married mom of three amazing adult 'kids'. I
have been caring for children in my home since 2000. We live in a good size
house with a secure backyard in the south-west Regina. Our family moved here
from Alberta in late 2006 and have run a successful in-home daycare since
then.
During that time I was trained in and kept up with my CPR, 1st Aid and received my level 1 in Early Childhood Education. By working with different children over the years, I gained experience caring for children with a variety of special needs such as ADD, ADHD, Autism, Asthma, Diabetes, food allergies and other global delays. I have a non-smoking home and we have two child-friendly dogs (labs) 'Gypsy' and 'Koda', and two very patient cats 'Peanut' and 'Shivers'. I have found that having animals in an 'in-home daycare' are a great distraction to those children that are a little unsure about being away from Mom and Dad. They are also a wonderful teaching tool to children about how to be gentle and kind.
I have had a police and child welfare check done on both myself and my husband and continue to do so every year. I do have appropriate insurance for both my home and my vehicle. Past and present daycare family references are available upon request for your verification.
My daycare is a comfortable one. I believe that the children should not always have to be "on" when they are in my care. Sometimes they want to play by themselves or do a puzzle, they don't always want to play with the other children. They may need a little alone time first thing in the morning and then decide to join the group play later on. I embrace your child being themselves! We are an inclusive home and welcome everyone here.
We do a variety of crafts, play games, listen to music, dance, do puzzles, play with a variety of toys, and we love to play outside. We have scheduled 'special' days where we go on outings or on little trips. We also have pajama days, special movie days, parties, and celebrate daycare friends' birthdays!
I post events on my CLOSED Facebook page that I have created strictly for present families. I post pictures, as well as post quick notes and inform families about daycare events. If you prefer to not have pictures posted on this page please let me know at registration.
I enjoy opening my home to my Daycare children. I love being available for my family. I enjoy the opportunity to get to know different families. I love the opportunity that it gives my 'inner child' to play! I plan on still opening my home up to other children for a few years to come. I am happy caring for children and will only continue as long as I enjoying to do so.
Well, I hope this helps you get to know me a bit better. I would love to meet with you and your children. Maybe you can come for coffee and we can talk about what you are looking for. I have come to realize that the biggest hurdle in finding a caregiver is finding one that you have a open line of communication with. So.... let's talk!
I wish you and your family the best of luck on your childcare hunt. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you soon,
- Niki
